Improved Majority Identification by the Coarsened Majority Automaton

چکیده
The initial majority identification task is a fundamental test problem in cellular automaton research. To pass the test, two-state has to attain uniform configuration consisting of only state that was initially majority. It does so solely through its local, internal dynamics—i.e., success an example emergent computation. Finding new, better-performing automata continues be interest for what additional clues they might reveal about this form Here we describe novel, coarsened version one standard identifiers. We show system outperforms parent while significantly reducing number computations required accomplish task.

Majority Consensus and the Local Majority Rule
we only show one further result that emphasizes our point that understanding LMP is fundamental to understanding any generalization of this process. A simple generalization of the local majority process would allow vertex v to have some resistivity towards color switch. Formally, for a nonnegative integer kv, we de ne a kv-local majority rule for vertex v: ct+1 v = ( ctv if jfw 2 Nv : ctw = ctv...
متن کاملThe majority game with an arbitrary majority
The k-majority game is played with n numbered balls, each coloured with one of two colours. It is given that there are at least k balls of the majority colour, where k is a fixed integer greater than n/2. On each turn the player selects two balls to compare, and it is revealed whether they are of the same colour; the player’s aim is to determine a ball of the majority colour. It has been correc...
متن کاملFinding a majority ball with majority answers
Suppose we are given a set of n balls {b1, . . . , bn} each colored either red or blue in some way unknown to us. To find out some information about the colors, we can query any triple of balls {bi1 , bi2 , bi3}. As an answer to such a query we obtain (the index of) a majority ball, that is, a ball whose color is the same as the color of another ball from the triple. Our goal is to find a non-m...
متن کاملMajority rule in the absence of a majority
Which is the best, impartially most plausible consensus view to serve as the basis of democratic group decision when voters disagree? Assuming that the judgment aggregation problem can be framed as a matter of judging a set of binary propositions (“issues”), we develop a multi-issue majoritarian approach based on the criterion of supermajority efficiency (SME). SME reflects the idea that smalle...
متن کاملKnowledge Base Merging by Majority
A common practice for resolving connicts among a group of agents is to let the majority decide. We formalize this principle and apply it to the problem of merging the knowledge of multiple agents. We then postulate logical properties that all knowledge merging operators should satisfy and give a model-theoretic characterization of all merging operators that satisfy the postulates. It turns out ...
